As a reminder, students are tardy if they arrive to school after 8:00.

 

DOES will have a schoolwide initiative to focus on independent reading.  Please see the information below for the amount of time students are asked to read at home per grade level.  Please sign the reading log for your child.

 

Pre-k & KDG: Independent reading goal: At home: 5-10 minutes

Ist grade: Independent reading goal: At home: 10 minutes

2nd grade: Independent reading goal: At home: 15 minutes

3rd grade: Independent reading goal: At home: 20 minutes

4th grade: Independent reading goal: At home: 25 minutes

5th grade: Independent reading goal:  At home: 30 minutes

 

There will be a Parent Video Series to provide helpful information in a variety of areas.  Please see the list below of dates for the videos.

 

The last week of October is Red Ribbon Week. Please refer to the schedule sent home by Ms. Pough and encourage your children to participate.

 

October Events

October 4th – Parent Video Series from Nurse Chisolm will be posted on the school’s website.

October 10th – 16th SC Metric Week

October 11th – Parent Video Series from Ms. S. Sanders will be posted on the school’s website.

October 12th – 29th CogAT – 2nd Graders

October 18th – Parent Video Series from Ms. Toomer will be posted on the school’s website.

October 18th – End of 1st Quarter

October 19th – Professional Development Day – No School for Students

October 25th – Parent Video Series from Ms. Hinds will be posted on the school’s website.

October 25th – Red Ribbon Week – See schedule sent home from Ms. Pough.

 

November 1st – Parent Video Series from Laura Bus will be posted on the school’s website.
